DEFINITON
Mao visited Stalin in 1949. There was much tension between the the two rulers, especially because of the way the Soviet Union had treated china as inferior.

SIGNIFICANCE
This meeting further increased Mao's dislike towards Stalin. Also, the de-Stalinization that Mao saw caused Mao to shift his ideas. This was part of the reason why Mao started the Great Leap forward, trying to industrialize China.
