Stresa Front
The agreement involving Britain, France, and Italy made in northern Italy in 1935 as a response to Hitler’s breach of the Versailles Treaty by re-introducing conscription earlier that year in March. These three nations gathered together to briefly discuss their suspicions towards Germany, also condemning Hitler’s action.

However, Britain quickly broke this agreement two months later, signing the Anglo-German Naval Agreement in 1935 without consulting France and Italy. This agreement allowed Germany to build submarines, which was another breach of the Versailles Treaty. This move by Britain disgusted France and Italy and destroyed any trust which had existed between these three nations.
